Are you one of those people who has a tendency to start projects with great enthusiasm but then don't always finish them. I meet people like this all the time. They get really excited about certain projects or ideas and are full of energy and enthusiasm but as soon as they meet a few obstacles on the way they just stop or slow down hoping for circumstances to change in their favor. And guess what? The perfect circumstances never seem to happen and things are just left unfinished.
Now we have all probably been guilty of not always finishing what we started but aren't you glad that God isn't that way? Imagine if God said, “You know, I love you. I have chosen you. I want to transform you into My image. But I am not very happy with your slow progress or the road you have chosen to travel so I have decided to try somebody else, someone more capable than you.”
What I am trying to say is that God always finishes what He starts. The Bible tells us that He is “the author and finisher of our faith” (Hebrews 12:2). And Philippians 1:6 says, “Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.” I don’t know about you but this really encourages me especially when I feel the work Christ is doing in and through my life is going far too slow.
What we need to remember is that God does His work in His way in His own timing. As Ecclesiastes 3:11 says, “He has made everything beautiful in its time.” We sometimes grow impatient with God and try and hurry God along even though we are not ready for the next stage in our spiritual development.
The point is: He will finish it – you can be 100 % confident of that. Our part is to daily surrender our lives to God and the work of the Holy Spirit and let him guide us as we are slowly being transformed into the image of Jesus Christ.
So the next time you feel that things are going to slow or you are tempted to give up because you mistakenly think that God has given up on you, you need to remember that is never the case. God will complete what He has started. That is a PROMISE!
God bless
Berny
