Sitting at the 4th Christian Family Life Educators program held at a conference center just outside of London. The two modules we will be concentrating on this week are Human growth and Development and Family Ethics.
Every time I have attended this course it has challenged me to deal with certain issues from my past. Today’s lecture on Human Growth and Development set in motion a whole lot of negative feelings. The feeling of rejection and sense of being unloved has haunted me for most of my life and it is only by the grace of God and the love and support from my wife that I am beginning to discover the power of God’s love in transforming people’s lives.
However, during our discussions I realize that I am not alone in my experiences. Everyone has experienced the pain of loss and rejection at one time or another. Maybe you were rejected by your parents or by somebody you really trusted. Whatever you might have experienced in life the one person who will never reject you is Jesus.
Whenever I become sad or think of the past I reminded of the words recorded in the Bible. Paul declares: “I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from his love. Death can’t, and life can’t. The angels can’t, and the demons can’t. Our fears for today, our worries about tomorrow, and even the powers of hell can’t keep God’s love away. Whether we are high above the sky or in the deepest ocean, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:38-39).
The truth is rejection (in whatever form it may take) can leave you feeling insecure. And insecurity can cause you to say and do foolish things. So whenever I feel lonely and insecure I have to keep reminding myself that anyone who has accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior has no reason to be insecure. The truth is God has promised us that he will never stop loving us; he will never reject us. This very promise gives me strength and hope to cope with the future.
God bless
